Inspired by the work of legendry amateur astronomer John Dobson, we set up Astronomy for Everyone in 2007 as part arts project and part enviromental project. We host or set-up free public astronomy events around London and the South East.
Past events
2007 featured three public events, a 'Star-Party in the park' and a couple of 'sidewalk astronomy' sessions. We also spent sometime planning possible corporate events. Great obervations of leonids meteor shower in July/August, Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon were featured throughout the summer.
Future events
At present there are two events planned in 2008 (subject to funding) details of these will be available shortly.
Funding
We currently recieve no external or public funds for these projects, and rely on corporate donation or event organisation. We may apply for public funds in the future.
Inclusive!
As with all our projects being inclusive and accessibile is a priority. We currently have one wheelchair accessible telescope and are raising funds for a second. In addition we are looking at ways of bringing astronomy to the vision and hearing impaired communities. |
